Embrace stress by doing more

Sound fantastic? Stupid? Sure, if you take it superficially and don’t consider what you do more of. Yes, being busy will just make you tired and unsatisfied and piling on tasks every day will just drain your energy.

Many will read the headline and think “he is out of his mind”, may be true but ponder this. If you have achieved something great, you will feel great for a long time. If you take on some entertainment, you feel good until it is over.

This may sound like I am countering my own argument but you also have to do less to achieve more. Ahhh, he cannot make up his mind. If you are still with me, hear me out. You need to choose what you do when and at the same time make sure you have time to relax. If you do more while you are actively doing things then you will have more time to relax. This will, in turn, make your time off more relaxing and give you more chance to reflect.

This is key to this whole argument, it is not how stressful a task or job is that gives you stress. Rather, it is how badly you anticipate it to be and how consistently the pressure is on you that causes stress and the negative effects.
When you decide what to do and when to do it then you will soon learn how to plan your life and get the most of every worked hour. This will lead to you having more time for other things.

Any additional time you can save by having well-planned days, please use them wisely. It is rarely productive to be efficient to work more, it is much better to make sure you can use the saved time to slow down. Balance that time between family and friends, but rarer and commonly avoided; time alone. I am not suggesting that you need to live alone but take a half hour to an hour on a regular basis to be all alone. This may sound like torture to many but it works for most people.
